Inside Jharkhand Initiative was founded in 2012 as a not-for-profit organisation to provide education to underprivileged communities in the state of Jharkhand. Under the leadership of Nitin Ranjan and Yasha Singh, the initiative has grown into a leading platform for empowering Dalit and Tribal communities through education, livelihoods, healthcare, and access to justice.

Guided by their vision, Inside Jharkhand has made the fight against untouchability and caste-based discrimination a top priority, combining grassroots action with policy advocacy. While its core work is rooted in Jharkhand, the organisation also pushes for the international recognition of caste discrimination as a critical human rights issue, engaging with the UN, EU, and other multilateral institutions.

From food security to education, rights to natural resources to livelihood generation, and agricultural justice to labour rights, Inside Jharkhand carries out a wide range of interventions. With a special emphasis on Dalit and Tribal women, Nitin Ranjan and Yasha Singh have shaped Inside Jharkhand into a voice that connects local struggles with global conversations on equity, dignity, and human rights.
